GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER

Indeed, everything in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus Christ. God says, "Who has been first to give to Me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the entire heaven is Mine." (Job 41:11) God has no lack and He is not "served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things" (Acts 17:25)

At the same time, however, we are told to "Honor the Lord from your wealth, And from the first of all your produce" (Proverbs 3:9). That is because "all the tithe of the land, of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord." (Leviticus 27:30). That is why the Bible doesn't exhort us to give to God, but instead exhorts us to give back to God. To set apart some of what He has given us and to give it back to Him by supporting faithful ministries that labour to spread The Gospel and exalt His Holy Name across the earth, with a particular emphasis on the local church. This is why God loves a cheerful giver; someone who doesn't give reluctantly under compulsion but one who sees the impact they are making for the cause of Christ by supporting those who labour to "Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples." (2 Corinthians 9:7, 1 Chronicles 16:24)

 

With this perspective, we take all tithes that we receive very seriously. You can be confident that whatever your contribution, it will be put towards the highest and most Christ-honouring Kingdom purposes.
