Benevolence Bags
Often, when traveling, we run into members of our community who need a reminder that they are there and that someone cares. Beyond our benevolent ministry, where we assist those in need, and our support for local food banks, we aim to encourage people to use benevolence bags. This ministry initiative began when our pastor was asked for financial assistance at a red light one day. He didn't have any money, but he had water and a fiber bar, which he passed on to someone else. It is such a small gesture, a random act of kindness that we all can perform. Especially on a day when everything is digital payment, no one carries cash around. If we do, no one is sure how to love their neighbor by providing without promoting perhaps a deeper issue. This is why this ministry works! With prepacked bags in your car, you can simply hand them to the individual in need. Bags contain a bottle of water or other drink, a small snack, and a gospel tract. Granted, it will not fix the problem overnight, but it is a start, and it is something.
If you would like to carry these bags or assist the church by providing resources for this ministry, please let us know.
